Trip to Washington

We took a trip down to Washington to show the kids the monuments.  We started off our trip with a picnic by the river.  The kids loved watching all the boats go by.  There were several boats that were pulling people waterskiing.  Brayden really liked watching the people try to get up on the skis and would watch to see if they fell in the water.


After our picnic, we buckled the kids in the double stroller and walked over to the Lincoln Memorial.


After the Lincoln Memorial, we walked down past the Reflecting Pool to the World War II Memorial.  Brayden really liked all the fountains at the Memorial.  Since it was a really hot day, we took a break and put our feet in the water.

Taylor thought it was really fun splashing in the water.  She had a huge smile.  We had to be careful though, because she really wanted to sit down and play in the water!  Brayden made sure we saw every fountain at the Memorial before we started walking again.


Next, we headed around the Tidal Basin to the Jefferson Memorial.  Along the way, we stopped for a popsicle break to cool down.  We have taken Brayden to see the Jefferson Memorial several times in his life, but it has always been under construction.  This time all the construction was completed!  We were able to walk around in the top of the Memorial and down along the water.


Our next stop, was the Roosevelt Memorial.  The Roosevelt Memorial has always been one of our favorite spots, because of all the fountains.  Brayden made sure to run up to every fountain.




At this point, the kids were pretty tired and hot.  We managed to keep them happy for a little bit longer as we made a quick stop to see the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.  The Memorial has a great spot right on the Tidal Basin.    Besides the day being really hot, we all had a fun adventure.  Brayden seemed to really enjoy all the history and seeing everything.  Taylor seemed to really enjoy all the great people watching and watching all the fountains.
