Brayden's birthday is only 5 days before Taylor's birthday, so we decided to have a joint birthday party for the kids! Brayden is really interested in bugs and after having a bug party at school, he decided he wanted a bug birthday party! We had bug birthday banners, bug balloons, rubber ducks shaped like bugs, and of course inflatable bugs.
We found fun bug jars for party favors!
Taylor seemed okay with the bug theme and even got into the excitement wearing a bug outfit and a butterfly barrette. She was really excited that some of her little friends were at the party! We are very lucky that a bunch of Brayden's friends also have siblings Taylor's age. Taylor is lucky to have an awesome group of little friends.
After everyone had some time to play, we went outside for a bug hunt. We hid tons of plastic bugs all over the back yard for the kids to find. The kids had a blast looking for all the bugs. Brayden had so much fun finding all the bugs. He found so many that we had to tell him to put some back for the other kids.
We had a bumblee bee pinata filled with gummy bugs and bug finger puppets.
Brayden was very excited and was grabbing as many gummy bugs as he could hold.
At the end of the party, it was time for cake! We had ladybug cupcakes and my mom made her special chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was decorated with Oreo dirt, gummy worms, and gummy bugs.
This was Taylor's first time eating a cupcake! Of course, we thought that this would be a great time to give her a cupcake covered with red frosting. At first she wasn't quite sure what to do with it.
She picked it up and kind of stared at all of us like what do you do with this thing.
Then, she decided it would be fun to squish in her hands.
Next, came the small bite as she figured out if it was good to eat.
She seemed to think it was pretty good and had a few more bites.
Finally, she decided that cupcakes were yummy and dug right in!
Both kids had a great time at the party. We were so happy that our fantastic friends and families could come celebrate our little boy turning four and our baby girl turning one!
