Pumpkin Carving

The day before Halloween we carved all our pumpkins.  We spread out newspaper and trash bags on the kitchen floor and prepared to get messy.

Brayden was a great helper this year cleaning the insides of the pumpkins out.  He still didn't like to use his hands, but he didn't mind if his hands got a little gooey.  He used the orange pumpkin scraper and the spoon most of the time, but a few times he used his hands!

He made sure that there wasn't any goo inside his pumpkin.  After the insides of the pumpkins were clean, he helped me separate all the seeds from the goo, so that we could cook the pumpkin seeds.

Taylor didn't really like the gooey sticky stuff.  She really liked running around taking all the spoons and scrapers.  She would use the spoons to bang on the pumpkin shells and she liked to hide the scrapers inside the pumpkins.  She also really enjoyed carrying around the big stems and trying to match them to the pumpkins.

Our pumpkins display outside looked wonderful.  We had our four carved pumpkins plus three pumpkins we had decorated earlier in the season with Mr. Potato Head parts.
